Babylon

Standing tall silent soldiers without formation
beyond the wide expanse darkness falls
calling forth a sea of diamonds to life
which only the light of day can kill
gray shells they again become marching on
to oblivion mere sentinals of steel they are
timeless trees of stone counting ageless moments elapsed
guardians of glass rise skyward to challenge the heavens
only to fall once more...

Sensual Illusions

A whisper of reality in a dream
search for sense in a senseless state
Earth her body within she grows
the sun provides, in her sky
feeling every breath she moves alive
Life continues beyond the sunset
darkness intrudes filling her blood
white heat turned red colors and feelings bled
Opening upon dawn the bidden arise dark recedes
leaving all changed and yet unchanged wonder
the moment the light overtakes all embraced...

Serenade in Blue

Can I love you in moments torn from other things
I ask myself if I could walk a dream and see you dressed
all in blue and I sing you loving dirges while we watch
the boats along the river I wonder if you know I think about
you in moments torn from other things a romantic figure I
could be if you only knew I think about you...

Whom Gods Destroy

Silently seeking in their own image
wandering pilgrims find new flocks to tend
quietly they lead them to slaughter
for somehow with good intent
in gods name we live we kill we give we hate
in gods name we pray we judge we sing we take
in gods name we love we curse we yell we cry
in gods name...why?

Enough

Call down the fires of heaven,
before I grow too weary.
Bring me the pain and pleasure
of a thousand lifetimes,
that I may find time enough for love.
Thus to fear my own existence,
teach me to believe
that I can accomplish all things.
In failure, let me rise above mere ambition.
To find my place and push my rock
up the hill of my choosing.
For I have known the face of the enemy:
time makes victims of us all.
In the end, there are no exceptions...

Inheritence

Their songs speak a sorrows shame
touches of anger hardly contained
inherit the wind, so it would seem
for nothing shall be left to dream
this blissful ignorance cannot last
the dead criminals rest in the past
violent lessons learnt today will show
tomorrow's demons stand ready to go
we'll be witness to true sadness then
in the failure of all the king's horses,
and all the kings men...

Love

I believe love is more than a feeling
it is an affirmation of life:

That within us all lay the capacity to
care for one another.

That though we also have the capacity to cause
each other pain, we can choose not to as well.

That we can make room in our hearts and our minds
for each other, and thus does two become a part of one.

Love is tolerance, it is acceptance, it is understanding
it is the rock upon which all good things are built.

Great civilzations have come and gone, new ideas have
supplanted old; time stands still for nothing.

But the one thing no civilization, great idea,
or individual have ever been able to conquer
is the power of love...
